Accessed by funicular or steps, it’s elevated enough to command 180° views of False Bay, set back enough from the high street to be peaceful, and yet close enough to the village to walk to the harbor, the beaches, the pavement cafés, restaurants and bars for which Kalk Bay is famous. Whalehaven, only metres from the sea, has been renovated with painstaking care. It’s perfect for a single person, a couple, or a young family. The apartment is on the second floor of an original Edwardian building so the view is spectacular. Everything is easily accessible from here. The beaches and bars, the harbour, the mountain, and loads of restaurants are all within walking distance.
The apartment has a large, comfortable sitting/dining room with sliding glass windows looking onto the sea. The décor is beachy blue and chic. The quiet bedrooms open onto a small veranda at the back and have a view of the mountain. The beds have down duvets and embroidered Indian cotton covers. There’s a big shower and a free-standing bath in the marble-tiled bathroom, with under-floor heating and a separate toilet. The kitchen is really well equipped for self-catering and to keep everyone happy and in touch, there’s Netflix and free wifi.
